BREAST SURGERY

An effective way of breast-related health problems

Although breast reduction surgeries may seem like cosmetic procedures for people’s aesthetic concerns, they are reconstructive surgeries. Because of their size, sagging breasts can cause neck and back pain and a hump in women. Using tight bras to tighten and lift the breasts can cause numbness and shortness of breath by putting pressure on the chest and arm nerves. When the chest and skin rub against each other, rashes and skin sores can occur. All of these are factors that cause social and psychological problems that limit a person’s physical activities.
With breast reduction surgery, many of the person’s problems are eliminated and social life, by giving the breast a natural appearance, becomes easier.
Who is suitable for breast reduction surgery?
Many people want to undergo breast reduction due to aesthetic concerns or reconstructive problems. In such cases, the following people are suitable for breast reduction:
People with large and sagging breasts can obtain an aesthetic breast appearance with this surgery. Women with completed breast development have the suitable profile for surgery.
Women who do not have dangerous mass in the breast area can be operated.
Men with female breast tissue development can have a more restrained breast shape with breast reduction. The patient must be over 18 years of age. Individuals who do not trigger health problems or complications during or after surgery may be included in the surgery.
What should be considered after breast reduction?
Breast surgery for aesthetic purposes is an important factor that also fulfils the patient’s self-confidence. The general assessment of what to consider after breast reduction is as follows:
Arm pain may occur about 5 days after surgery. Patients should rest for the first week without making sudden and heavy movements and without getting tired. Alcohol and smoking should not be consumed for 10 days after surgery. Driving a car should be avoided for the first 2 weeks. Patients should sleep in supine position. To start sports, 1 month should be waited. After complications, the doctor should be contacted directly. After breast reduction, the medication recommended by the doctor should be followed.
Will there be scars after breast reduction?
Postoperative scars can be scary for patients. However, surgeries performed with developing technology result in minimal scars. Here are some things to know about scars that occur during breast reduction: As surgical procedures are used during surgery, scarring is also monitored.
During the first two months, scars may be noticeable and red. After 6 to 12 months, a significant reduction in surgical scars is observed. In some patients, the scarring may become an invisible line.
What are the preferred methods for breast reduction?
Breast reductions are performed under the supervision of specialists. The surgical methods of breast reduction, the risk rate of which is minimized with the developing technology, are as follows:  If the hanging nipple needs to be lifted during breast reduction, an incision is made in that direction. The scars change depending on how the nipple is worn during surgery.
The Lejour breast reduction method, also known as the mushroom, I or vertical method, may be preferred for patients whose breast tissue is not excessive. This technique produces negative results in extremely large breasts. The graft technique is preferred for breast reduction surgery in patients with extremely large breasts and older patients.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

What is Breast Lift (Mastopexy) ?
A breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, is a procedure that is performed to fix saggy breasts by removing the excess skin and tightening the breast tissue.
Age, pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, and gravity may lead to saggy breasts. Breast lift surgery can raise the breasts and improve the appearance of saggy breasts.
A breast lift can change the shape of the breasts and the position of the nipple and areola, but it can’t give extra volume to breasts. If patients want to change the size of their breasts along with breast lift, then a breast augmentation procedure or a breast reduction is combined with breast lift surgery.

The individual's who are experiencing sagging or drooping breasts caused by aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or genetics may want to get breast lift.

Common signs that a woman may be the right candidate for a Breast Lift include:
Sagging or drooping breasts: If the breasts have lost volume and shape because of pregnancy, aging, wearing the wrong bra or just of gravity, a breast lift may be able to help restore a more youthful appearance.
Nipples pointing downward: If the nipples point downward or fall below the breast crease, a breast lift can reposition them to a more youthful position.
Excess skin: If there is excess skin on the breasts, a breast lift can remove it, creating a tighter, more lifted appearance.
The women who have realistic expectations about the outcome of the procedure are the right candidates for a Breast Lift.
If the individual is pregnant or breastfeeding, she can’t have a breast lift procedure. It is recommended to wait several months after quitting breastfeeding.
Please remember that; a breast lift can improve the appearance of sagging breasts, it will not significantly change the size of the breasts.
If you are looking to increase the size of your breasts you may consider a breast augmentation in addition to a breast lift.

A breast lift surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. There are three degrees of breast sagging and the surgeon uses special techniques for each grade.
Lollipop or vertical lift: An incision is made around the areola. Most of the breast lift procedures can be performed via a lollipop lift.
Anchor or inverted T lift: Incisions are made around the areola and vertically down the breast creases. This option is ideal for patients with grade 3 breast droop.
Donut lift: This is the least invasive form of breast lift while a circular incision is made around the areola to reshape the breast tissue. This is an ideal type for patients with minor sagging.
Crescent lift: As a donut lift, this type is also for correcting mild breast droops. A very small scar may be seen after the full recovery.

For a comfortable surgery and recovery period, the golden key is to prepare properly to Breast Lift. Here are some general tips on how to prepare for a breast lift:
Choose a qualified plastic surgeon: It is important to make a detailed research. You may consider to take your breast lift surgery even abroad. Look for a board-certified plastic surgeon who has experience with breast lift surgery.
Have a consultation with your surgeon: Face to face or online consultation will give you a point of view about your surgeon. During the consultation, the surgeon will evaluate your overall health, examine your breasts, and discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure. Don't hesitate to ask the risks and benefits of the surgery.
Quit smoking: If you smoke, you will need to quit at least four weeks before and after the surgery.
Avoid certain medications and supplements: Some medications and supplements can increase the risk of bleeding during and after surgery.
Follow pre-operative instructions: There will be specific instructions to follow before the surgery. These instructions include; not eating or drinking anything after midnight the night before the procedure, arranging for someone to drive you home after the surgery, and wearing loose-fitting clothing on the day of the procedure.
Arrange for post-operative care: Post-operative care is important so don't try to do everything by your own. Ask a close friend or a family member to drive you home after the surgery and help you with daily activities for a few days after the procedure. You may also need to arrange for childcare, pet care, and time off work.
Prepare a comfortable recovery space; Before the surgery, prepare your home. Soft pillows, blankets, and entertainment such as books or movies, plenty of ice packs and pain medication will be helpful.
By following these tips, you can help ensure a safe and successful breast lift surgery and a smooth recovery.

Before Breast Lift procedure on the day of the surgery, the individual's has to arrive at the hospital on scheduled time.
After the preparation the individual's are taken to the surgical facility and will be given general anesthesia to ensure comfortable and pain-free procedure.

After the anesthesia the surgeon makes incisions in the breast tissue to remove excess skin and reposition the nipple and areola to a higher position on the breast. The remaining skin is then tightened and the incisions are closed with sutures.
*If you're getting implants, the surgeon will insert them before closing the sutures
