An effective way of breast-related health problems
What is Breast Lift (Mastopexy) ?
A breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, is a procedure that is performed to fix saggy breasts by removing the excess skin and tightening the breast tissue.
Age, pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, and gravity may lead to saggy breasts. Breast lift surgery can raise the breasts and improve the appearance of saggy breasts.
A breast lift can change the shape of the breasts and the position of the nipple and areola, but it can’t give extra volume to breasts. If patients want to change the size of their breasts along with breast lift, then a breast augmentation procedure or a breast reduction is combined with breast lift surgery.
The individual's who are experiencing sagging or drooping breasts caused by aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or genetics may want to get breast lift.
Common signs that a woman may be the right candidate for a Breast Lift include:
Sagging or drooping breasts: If the breasts have lost volume and shape because of pregnancy, aging, wearing the wrong bra or just of gravity, a breast lift may be able to help restore a more youthful appearance.
Nipples pointing downward: If the nipples point downward or fall below the breast crease, a breast lift can reposition them to a more youthful position.
Excess skin: If there is excess skin on the breasts, a breast lift can remove it, creating a tighter, more lifted appearance.
The women who have realistic expectations about the outcome of the procedure are the right candidates for a Breast Lift.
If the individual is pregnant or breastfeeding, she can’t have a breast lift procedure. It is recommended to wait several months after quitting breastfeeding.
Please remember that; a breast lift can improve the appearance of sagging breasts, it will not significantly change the size of the breasts.
If you are looking to increase the size of your breasts you may consider a breast augmentation in addition to a breast lift.
A breast lift surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. There are three degrees of breast sagging and the surgeon uses special techniques for each grade.
Lollipop or vertical lift: An incision is made around the areola. Most of the breast lift procedures can be performed via a lollipop lift.
Anchor or inverted T lift: Incisions are made around the areola and vertically down the breast creases. This option is ideal for patients with grade 3 breast droop.
Donut lift: This is the least invasive form of breast lift while a circular incision is made around the areola to reshape the breast tissue. This is an ideal type for patients with minor sagging.
Crescent lift: As a donut lift, this type is also for correcting mild breast droops. A very small scar may be seen after the full recovery.
